Therapy areas

I’m able to write about any indication, and as well as experience across all the major therapeutic areas, I have written about subjects as diverse as canine heart disease, sports drinks, and dental implants.

I specialize in vaccines, infectious disease, rare disease, oncology, and neurology.

Vaccines

Extensive experience in vaccines including clinical trials, HEOR, vaccine manufacturing, and pandemic preparedness. From 2008 to 2018, I was a publications writer (freelance) for GSK Vaccines, focussing on seasonal and pandemic influenza vaccines, as well as infant primary series vaccines, hepatitis, shingles, meningitis, HPV, and travel vaccines. I've continued to work on vaccines, including seasonal influenza, pertussis, respiratory syncytial virus, and yellow fever.

Infectious disease

During my first ten years in the industry, I worked extensively on fungal skin infections and systemic fungal infections. I've also worked on viral and bacterial infections, and in my early career, I worked on a sepsis treatment that promised so much, yet a writer was needed to explain why a hyped trial had failed.

In 2006, I developed materials for a meeting on ‘Ten years of HAART.’ I didn’t work in HIV again until 2018 and was delighted to find that so much progress had been made. In the last five years I’ve worked on several HIV therapies in various clinical settings. The plan is to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic by 2030. I’m happy to work to this deadline.

Rare disease

I understand the challenges of collecting data in rare diseases and gaining market access for orphan drugs. Between 2007 and 2012, I worked (freelance) for Genzyme, providing comms support on LSD registry activities, including advisory boards with geneticists, paediatricians, and patient advocacy groups. Since then, I’ve worked on gene therapy, and several rare diseases across therapy areas, and have recent experience in haemophilia.

Oncology

I’ve written about numerous cancers, and in the last six years, I’ve worked on prostate cancer, NSCLC, colon cancer, and blood cancers.

Neurology

I did some hefty projects on Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and multiple sclerosis in my early career, and more recently, I've worked on epilepsy.
